Miyavi is a Japanese artist who is recognized to be one of Japan's top guitarists. At the young age of 17, he moved from his hometown Osaka to Tokyo in 1999. He joined the former visual-kei band Due' le Quarts, which disbanded in 2002. But the very next day, he announced his solo debut. And now he's back in the US for a 3rd time bringing his speedy guitar solos to his fans donned "Co-Miyavi Worldwide International Family." This tour being larger in scale compared to his last, is still on-going, and will be the largest world tour any Japanese artist has ever pulled off.

Named "Ambassador of Bhangra" by the New York Times and "one of the most influential South Asians in the Unites States" by Newsweek, it's pretty evident that DJ Rekha has fully elevated the blend of bollywood beats with electronic bliss to create dance nights that draw in crowds from all over the country to hear the sounds of Basement Banghra.

Now add Halloween to that and you get the extravaganza known as Bhangraween, coming to DC for the 3rd time this year, at the 9:30 Club on Oct. 29. Joining her is the dhol drum prodigy Rani Taj making her US debut, as well as Brazilian baile funk princess Zuzuka Poderosa.  Sounds like an international blood feast, so don't forget to don your fav saree or freakiest costume because DJ Rekha will be judging the best dressed and cash prizes are involved!!! Hollerrrr.

Not in DC? Well you can still catch the amazingness of DJ Rekha's Bhangra sets on a regular basis throughout NYC, and here is a list of future dates.

We might not be getting any closer to discovering soundscapes from the outer reaches of the universe, but for now we can at least check out a video of what could possibly happen once we integrate with other life forms. And what a gorgeous score to represent it, from the mashed up team of electronic artists Teams and Star Slinger repping the US and the UK in this track "Close To Me" now available on the album Teams Vs. Star Slinger.  And now the beginning of a beautiful friendship... or, wait, good god, no,... no!

And Michael Jackson wouldn't have been the world-wide icon that he is/was without a little help from his Grammy award winning "Fat" friend.  

Now, the architect turned accordion touting lyrical genius is touring the world in support of his latest (13th studio) album Alpocalypse! Tonight he'll be swinging by the nation's capitol (that'd be DC, kids) to perform at the Warner Theatre, and there are only a handful of tickets left, so be there!

(by Metal Chris) Kvelertak is a rock band from Stavanger, Norway, that has strong influences from the punk scene as well as the notorious black metal scene of their native land. Sure all the lyrics are in Norwegian (the band's name translates to chokehold or stranglehold) but it is the catchy riffs and hooks that will keep you loving every second. They recently put out this killer animated video for one of their songs, Blodtørst, which translates to bloodthirst and fittingly this video has more blood than any other music video this year (it also has viking and dragons). Press play and get ready to be blown away.

Liverpool's electronic pop act Ladytron have been producing shoegazey synthpop tracks since '99, and with a bevy of hits heard around indie dance nights, it's no wonder Brian Eno dubbed them "the best of English pop music."  They just released their 5th studio album this past September, Gravity the Seducer, and are currently wrapping up their US tour in support of it this week.
