(by Dawn Reed) So we all have that favorite song right?  You know, the one that stays at the top of your brains list and won't budge to the dismay of all the newer bands you eventually get into?  And if it's a classic B-side, to be able to hear it live by some of the original performers... ayyy, consider that starship boarded, as tomorrow night Peter Hook and the Light are hitting the stage at the 9:30 Club in DC, and I am so there!  Hook, one of the founding members of the late 70's post-punk Manchester band Joy Division, has been touring the world to present a live performance of their second/final album Closer (released 1980) along with some other surprise tracks that may or may not have been on some remasters...!!!

The resurgence started last May when his band played Joy Division's first album Unknown Pleasures at the Factory Club in Manchester, and then took the show throughout Europe, Australia, and the US.

Toronto based pop-hip hop duo The Airplane Boys just released the official video for "Ice Age" this past weekend and I gotta say, it's pretty friggin' dope, and nice use of clips from "They Live".   The Radiohead sampled track is from their mixtape "Where've You Been" which is now available for download here.  And this October, they will be joining Snoop Dogg on his UK tour!

Watch this soaring action meets adorable conclusion video from Vancouver based breezy pop band Destroyer and tell me if you too have the urge to punch a car roof repeatedly for good luck... You know, because of all the red-light running? Is that before your time?  That superstition was hot in the 90's, the decade where Destroyer got their start ('95), and continue to flourish having released their 9th LP, Kaputt, earlier this year.  That album has made the Polaris Music Prize's Short List, and the awards are taking place on Sept 19.
