Miyavi is a Japanese artist who is recognized to be one of Japan's top guitarists. At the young age of 17, he moved from his hometown Osaka to Tokyo in 1999. He joined the former visual-kei band Due' le Quarts, which disbanded in 2002. But the very next day, he announced his solo debut. And now he's back in the US for a 3rd time bringing his speedy guitar solos to his fans donned "Co-Miyavi Worldwide International Family." This tour being larger in scale compared to his last, is still on-going, and will be the largest world tour any Japanese artist has ever pulled off.

And we've got a ticket giveaway going on for his show at the 9:30 Club in DC on Wednesday, 11/2!!!  All you have to do is email us (include first/last name) by 5 PM on Tuesday 11/1, and let us know what your favorite Miyavi song is and why! We'll announce the winner on this blog, and email you back to confirm.  Enter here...

11/5/2011 Orlando, FL - The Club at Firestone

Named "Ambassador of Bhangra" by the New York Times and "one of the most influential South Asians in the Unites States" by Newsweek, it's pretty evident that DJ Rekha has fully elevated the blend of bollywood beats with electronic bliss to create dance nights that draw in crowds from all over the country to hear the sounds of Basement Banghra.

Now add Halloween to that and you get the extravaganza known as Bhangraween, coming to DC for the 3rd time this year, at the 9:30 Club on Oct. 29. Joining her is the dhol drum prodigy Rani Taj making her US debut, as well as Brazilian baile funk princess Zuzuka Poderosa.  Sounds like an international blood feast, so don't forget to don your fav saree or freakiest costume because DJ Rekha will be judging the best dressed and cash prizes are involved!!! Hollerrrr.

Not in DC? Well you can still catch the amazingness of DJ Rekha's Bhangra sets on a regular basis throughout NYC, and here is a list of future dates.

For now, check out this brill' example of baile funk from Zuzuka!

We might not be getting any closer to discovering soundscapes from the outer reaches of the universe, but for now we can at least check out a video of what could possibly happen once we integrate with other life forms. And what a gorgeous score to represent it, from the mashed up team of electronic artists Teams and Star Slinger repping the US and the UK in this track "Close To Me" now available on the album Teams Vs. Star Slinger.  And now the beginning of a beautiful friendship... or, wait, good god, no,... no!

Label: Mexican Summer

(by Dawn Reed) French electro-pop artist M83 just released this amazing video for "Midnight City" off his latest album Hurry Up We're Dreaming that was released this week.  The video is a tribute to Village of the Damned and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, so that's you know... pretty fuckin' dope. And just when you thought the saxophone craze was for Top 40 only, well, you'll hear. A north American tour will kick off at the end of October, click here for dates!

TOUR TREK: Weird Al

In a world, where the music industry is struggling to survive, there is a beacon of light still shining, that has been for over 30 years, beaming down on the fortunate leaders of pop who are lucky enough to be parodied by the King of Parodies himself...Mr. Weird Al Yankovic.

Lady Gaga has stated it's a rite of passage to be polka-faced... Dave Grohl knew he made it with "Smells Like Nirvana"...  Chamillionaire claims his Grammy wouldn't exist without Weird Al bringing him into the accordion lair... And Michael Jackson wouldn't have been the world-wide icon that he is/was without a little help from his Grammy award winning "Fat" friend.

Now, the architect turned accordion touting lyrical genius is touring the world in support of his latest (13th studio) album Alpocalypse! Tonight he'll be swinging by the nation's capitol (that'd be DC, kids) to perform at the Warner Theatre, and there are only a handful of tickets left, so be there!

For more tour dates, click here. And in the meantime, check out the polka'd out montage of the latest Top 40 (via the end of the decade) in the hilarious animated video below. Polka holler!
